A multi-line telephone system usually
includes phones, wire, jacks and other hardware, and a central control unit, which is a
specialized computer often called a "KSU" (Key Service Unit).
Most control units are about the size of a
medicine cabinet, and mount on a wall, and need a nearby electrical outlet. There are
internal connections for the wires going to your phones and accessories, and for the wires
that connect to the phone company. |

The KX-TA308 is the smallest and least
expensive Panasonic phone system control unit. It has the same high
quality as the bigger systems, and is the only model that can work with
phone company voicemail. Installation is very simple, with standard
modular jacks for line and phone connections. Caller ID on Call Waiting
is built in. Door intercom/opener circuit for two doors is also built
in. There are no options to deal
with.
Initial capacity and maximum capacity are the same: 3 lines, 8 phones, 4 door intercoms. Don't confuse this unit with the KX-TA308 sold outside the US. That model is similar to the KX-TA624 shown below. |

|
The KX-TD308 is a very good value, and has some innovative features not
available in the bigger KX-TD systems, including the ability to send Caller
ID to a single-line phone, PC or CID display. The price, capacity, and feature set makes it perfect for
many homes and small businesses. Our KX-TD308 is initially equipped for 3 lines, 8 multi-line digital phones, PLUS 4 single-line analog phones or accessories. An additional four analog phones or accessories can be connected with the KX-TD30870 expansion module. The KX-TD30891 multi-function module adds three important features: fax detection, Caller ID, and automated attendant ("press 2 for Charlie.") It can be used with one door intercom speaker, but does not require an add-on circuit module to make the door intercom work. It's a wonderful little system, but it's easy to outgrow.
Check your numbers carefully. |

With the KX-TA624,
installation is very simple, because all connections use standard
modular jacks. It does not provide eXtra Device Ports. It can
provide Caller ID on Call Waiting, and has a sophisticated Call Logging
system. This is an extremely popular system for homes and small businesses. It's a particularly good choice if (1) You need lots of inexpensive multi-line phones. (2) You need the highest possible speed for modems going through the system. (3) You want a very easy upgrade from an older analog 308 or 616 system. The KX-TA624 is initially equipped to handle 3 lines and 8 phones. The KX-TA62470 module adds capacity for eight more phones. The KX-TA62477 module adds capacity for eight phones plus three lines. (You can use just one of each type module.) Caller ID for three lines is provided by the KX-TA62493 module (one is included at no extra charge). The KX-TA62460 module provides door intercom operation for up to four door speakers. |

The KX-TAW848 phone system
has unusual features including cordless
phones that can roam from cell to cell without losing a
conversation, Caller ID on single-line phones, and SD memory card
program backup. It's initially equipped for 4 lines and 4 phones (single-line or multi-line). It can be expanded to handle up to 8 lines, 24 corded phones and 28 cordless phones in various combinations. (Only eight cordless phones can be used at one time.) A wide range of optional modules adds capacity and features. |

The
KX-TD816 is
a very popular system for both business and home use. It has a wide range of

Caller ID for four lines is provided by the KX-TD193 circuit (one is included at no extra charge). The D816 can handle one to four door intercom speakers (with remote unlocking), when a KX-TD161 module is installed. The price difference between a fully-expanded
KX-TD816 and a beginning
KX-TD1232 is less than $200. So, if you think you'll need a fully-expanded D816,
consider the 1232. |

|
The KX-TA1232 is versatile Panasonic system control unit,
and the biggest that can provide Caller ID on Call Waiting, but it can't be programmed with a PC, and does not provide eXtra Device Ports. It's initially equipped to handle 8 lines and 16 phones. KX-TD1232 is
our largest Panasonic phone system control unit, and is
ideally suited for a growing business or a large home. It can handle
advanced features like T1, DID and ISDN. It is initially equipped for 8 lines, 16 multi-line digital phones PLUS 16 single-line analog phones or accessories. You can install up to two KX-TD170 expansion modules, for total system capacity of 32 multi-line digital phones PLUS 32 analog phones or accessories. The KX-TD180 adds four more phone lines. For even more phone power, link two D1232s together, for a maximum capacity of 24 lines with up to 128 phones and accessories. Caller ID for four lines is provided by the KX-TD193 circuit (one is included at no extra charge). The D1232 can handle one to four door intercom speakers (with remote unlocking), when a KX-TD161 module is installed. A twin system can handle up to eight door intercoms. |

| Note: all of our phone systems work extremely well with Panasonic's Voice Processing Systems. |
Upgrading from Old to New Part of the "magic" of Panasonic's phone system control units is that they are backwards compatible. They can work with many Panasonic KX-T multi-line phones, even those made long ago.
Our own office system has five generations of multi-line phones, plus some analog single-line phones, connected to a dual KX-TD1232 system. When connected to a new control unit, old phones can perform new tricks, like displaying Caller ID.
