The new Panasonic MultiTalk product line provides the convenience of a multi-telephone system without the complicated wiring that most phone systems require. You can set up a modern, feature-rich system in just a few minutes, with no special equipment or technical knowledge. You can have intercom calls from phone to phone, and have phones where you don't have phone wiring.

  • Unlike other cordless phone systems, MultiTalk offers you four different types of add-on handsets instead of only one type. Each phone has hands-free speakerphone operation, four-way conferencing and other advanced features.

Operating on the ultra-clear 2.4GHz band and using Frequency Hopping Digital Spread Spectrum operation, these new multi-handset telephone systems “spread” their signal over many frequencies each second for high security against eavesdropping. Panasonic’s 90-channel auto scanning system will automatically scan available channels for a clear channel before you make a call.

The new KX-TG2700 and KX-TG2730 base phones operate on one phone line, and the KX-TG2720 and KX-TG2740 connect to two separate phone lines, or one phone line plus a door intercom.

Each base phone is packaged with one KX-TGA270 cordless handset, and you can add up to seven additional handsets, for a total of eight phones working together. 

  • Installation is super simple: Just connect the phone lines to the base phone, plug in the AC charging cradle for each cordless handset, and tap a few buttons to register each handset with the base. There is no central control unit ("KSU") and no special wiring.

Caller ID/Call Waiting capability on each phone can reveal the identity of a caller before the phone is answered. The multifunction, backlit, four-line LCD display on the handset on all of the models and the additional LCD display on the base of the KX-TG2740 will show each caller’s complete information without additional scrolling.

The displays also have Caller ID memory for later review with instant callback capability.  Each cordless handset has memory capacity for 50 names and numbers.  Handset displays also show “line in use,” “out of range” and other icons for system status.

These new systems can also save your most-frequently dialed phone numbers in their alphabetical directory. There's a 50-number phone directory with dialer on each handset, and individual phone directories can also be shared among handsets.

An additional directory on each base phone can hold up to 10 speed-dial numbers for quick access to important numbers, and you can select from six different ringing tones. 

A navigator key on each handset provides easy access to these phone directories and Caller ID Memory.  This key can also be used to set the handset volume or ringer loudness, or for programming and other functions.

The KX-TG2730 and KX-TG2740 bases have built-in digital answering with 15-minute capacity.  They provides three separate voice mailboxes and up to two mailboxes can be accessed simultaneously from any two handsets or the base and one handset.

You can allow callers to leave messages in specific mailboxes, by recording a menu like "Please press pound-one to leave a message for Harriet, press pound- two to leave a message for Steve, press pound-three to leave a message for Laurie."

You can record multiple outgoing messages with the two-line 2740, and select which message goes with which line. If you have a business at home, for example, callers to one line would hear "Thank you for calling the Adams family..." but callers to your other line would hear "Thank you for calling Adams Consulting Services..."

Other messaging features include remote message and mailbox access from any handset, full voice prompts, and time and date stamps for each message recorded.

The KX-TG2700 and KX-TG2720 have voice mail message-waiting indicators for use with phone company-subscribed voice mail service.


KX-TG2700 is a one-line speakerphone base with a cordless handset, with indicator for phone company voicemail.

KX-TG2730 is a one-line speakerphone base with a cordless handset, with built-in digital voicemail.

You can call any cordless handset from the base unit or “page” them all at once (ringing, not voice). Four-way conferencing capability lets you link, for example, two handsets and the base unit with an outside call or three handsets with an outside call.  There are speakerphones and headset jacks on all of the base phones and cordless handsets.  You also get a lighted keypad on the handset, a handset locator, and individual volume controls on the base and handset. Each cordless handset comes with a belt clip.

Expanding the System

You can expand the initial package by adding additional cordless handsets. Each handset is compatible with the one or two-line base phones, has conferencing, line status indication, a backlit four-line LCD display, 50-name-and-number Caller ID Memory and Dialer, 50-station Phone Directory and Dialer, an adjustable ringer (Off/Low/High) with six selectable patterns, two-way intercom, “Any Key” answer, and a headset jack for headsets equipped with a 2.5 mm plug. Each handset comes with a wall-mountable charging cradle

The silver-colored KX-TGA270 is the same handset that’s included with each base phone. (You start with two phones.) 4.5 hours talk time, 11 hours standby time.
The stylish and compact KX-TGA271 is thinner than the other handsets. It's white and available with either smoky white or violet antenna and accent trim colors. 3.5 hours talk time, 7 hours standby time.

 

 

The KX-TGA272 is silver colored and has an alarm clock and horizontal charging cradle, perfect for bedside use. 3.5 hours talk time, 7 hours standby time. NOT wall-mountable.

HOW ARE THESE PHONES DIFFERENT FROM PANASONIC'S OTHER MULTI-HANDSET CORDLESS SYSTEMS?
 
(1) The KX-TG2000 and KX-TG4000 2-line and 4-line systems are more business-oriented, and provide one mail box for each phone you have. The 2700 series phones with answering have three mailboxes, and all mailboxes can be used even if you have just one phone. The 2700 series handsets all have built-in speakerphones for hands-free conversations or room monitoring. The 2700 series does NOT have automated attendant ("press one for sales, press two for tech support.") The bases in the 2000 and 4000 have back-up batteries for use in power failures; the 2700 series bases do not. The 2700 series handsets can be used as walkie-talkies away from the base, the handsets for the 2000 and 4000 won't work away from the base. The 2000 and 4000 can call your beeper after recording a message; the 2700 series phones can't. The 2000 and 4000 can provide 3-way conference calls; the 2700 series can provide 4-way conferences. It's easier to join in a conversation with the 2700 series than with the 2000 and 4000. The 2700 series bases can be wall-mounted; the 2000 and 4000 can not.
 
(2) The KX-TG1000 single-line series (now discontinued) was made for Panasonic by VTech. VTech has horrible quality control. We think they make garbage, and we refuse to sell their products. The 2700 series is made by Panasonic, and quality is much better.
(3) The new TripleTalk single-line phones give you a choice of built-in answering or phone company voicemail indicators. You start with two phones and can add one more. Each handset has a speakerphone.

With 24-gage wire, the speaker can be up to 6300 feet from the phone, and 150 feet from the transformer. You can adjust the microphone sensitivity to compensate for background noise, and set the number of rings before it "times out."
