On intercom calls, your voice can come out of the speaker in another phone, and someone near that phone can reply without even touching it. For a more private conversation, the person you called can pick up the phone's handset, and the speaker will shut off.

The intercom also allows you to monitor what's going on wherever you have another phone (other than the "monitor" phones that do not have microphones) -- such as in a warehouse or in a baby's room. You can also use a KX-T30865 door intercom speaker for monitoring.

You can make a one-way paging announcement through the speakers in several or all phones. Your phone system can easily be connected to an amplifier and Public Address speakers for announcements where there are no phones, or in high-noise locations where the volume from the in-phone speaker is not strong enough.

The digital systems are designed to take advantage of special features in Panasonic's KX-TVS series Voice Processing systems, for voicemail, automated attendant, pager activation, call-screening, call-recording, interview service, and more.

An answering machine at each phone location will give you inexpensive voicemail; or one answerer can automatically respond to calls on several lines, as an efficient electronic secretary.

With Caller ID service from your phone company, and a properly equipped Panasonic phone system, info on 15 un-answered calls will be automatically recorded at one phone, for instant call-back by tapping a button next to the display screen.

Info on up to 15 answered calls can be manually recorded at any other phone, for quick and easy call-back.

If your local phone company does not transmit a name along with number, the system can supply a name to go with a recognized number from its internal data base of 500 names and numbers.

If a call is transferred from one phone to another, the Caller ID info will be displayed on the second phone, allowing the privacy of screened transfers, with less work for
the receptionist.

One KX-TD193 Caller ID module can handle four lines, and any number of phones on a KX-TD816 or KX-TD1232 system. The KX-TD30891 provides Caller ID for three lines on the KX-TD308 system. The KX-TA62493 provides Caller ID for three lines on the KX-TA624 system. The KX-TA123293 provides Caller ID for four lines on the KX-TA1232.

Panasonic analog display phones -- even old ones -- can display Caller ID information when connected to a KX-TD digital phone system, or the KX-TA624 or 1232.

If your local phone company provides Caller ID service and you have a Panasonic system,  your phones can display callers' names and phone numbers. If the phone company does not provide names, the system can supply them from memory.

Different phones can ring on different lines, at different times, with manual or automatic change-over.
Digital phones allow you to choose one of eight different ringing sounds for each line, which will save time and avoid annoyance if two businesses, or home and office, share a phone system. You'll know whether or not to answer a phone without looking for a flashing light.
Any radio with an earphone jack, or a CD player or tape deck, can provide both music-on-hold and background music. Music can be set to come out of your phone's speaker, and when you use the phone, your music stops. You can also provide a commercial message to callers on hold.
Your system can be programmed for privacy on some phones or all phones, so no one can interrupt or eavesdrop. Some phones can be programmed to be able to join calls in progress. Phones can be locked electronically to prevent unauthorized use, and can have various degrees of restricted dialing, to prevent costly long-distance calls, or calls to "900"-numbers or "976"-numbers. You can also program the system so data and fax transmissions won't be interrupted.
You can easily set up a conference call to speak with two other people. With a digital system or the analog 624, you can connect two other people together, and then leave the conversation.
A phone can recognize a busy signal and hang up, and then automatically dial again and again until the call is answered. The digital systems allow you to program the re-dialing interval.
Calls intended for someone in your office, can be automatically forwarded to any phone, anywhere in the world. (This feature uses two of your phone lines.)
One-Touch Dialing allows you to call someone, without first selecting a line or picking up the handset (on digital phones). The Call Log feature in the KX-T7235 and 7436 digital phones shows recently-called phone numbers that can be dialed again by just touching a button.
Hot-Line dialing allows someone to call a pre-set phone number simply by picking up a handset or pressing the speaker button. It also lets a fax or modem automatically select a specific line for sending documents or data files.
With all current control units, you can use a printer or "call accounting" software to provide a record of who called where, when, and how long they spoke. You can use account codes to assign costs to clients, employees, departments and projects.
Panasonic systems will allow you to set-up an automatic return call from a person who was away when you called (on intercom).
If you are away when someone calls you, the caller's phone can show messages like "at lunch," "gone home," "in a meeting," or "on vacation until 9/15."
Automatic Route Selection in the digital systems can make calls on specific lines based on programming for least-costly calling at a particular time.
A "DISA" module allows callers from the outside to reach specific people or departments, without human help; and can allow staff members to call into the office, and then call out on an office line.
The XDP jack on digital phones can have the same extension number as the phone itself, for convenient use of an answerer or cordless; or a different number so you can use a modem or fax on one phone line while speaking on another line. It's a great place to plug in a laptop or desktop PC.
